Nina Dobrev may play a fearless bloodsucker on The Vampire Diaries now, but growing up she says she didn’t always have the upper-hand.
The actress — who is a best-dressed list regular — told E! News that she was bullied about her looks as a child.
“I had a couple of awkward stages,” Dobrev, told E! at a benefit for The Trevor Project. “Now we have hair and makeup. I pay professionals. But you didn’t have professionals when you were grade three.”
Dobrev, who says she had a “chunky face,” explained that she taunted for cutting her hair like a boy when she was younger. “…. Kids will find anything to pick on you for — whether it’s true or not — because it makes them feel better and bigger and it isn’t until you’re the victim that you realize that it’s not fun and it’s not cool…Until you learn, you can hurt a lot of people.”
